Although all the walking Dordogne / Lot tours are self-guided, Cliff & Annie are always there if you need them because they actually live in the centre of the Dordogne and Lot regions, so you are likely to meet them at some point during your tour. Should plans need to be changed at short notice due to a road closure, for example, they will let you know immediately. We are only a telephone call away – and it will be either Cliff or Annie who answers the telephone, not a temporary employee in some far-off office.

Each of our three walking tours offers a different perspective on this beautiful region. Depending on the tour and its itinerary, you walk for 3 to 6 hours a day over distances varying from a minimum of 12kms up to a maximum of 25kms, across mainly gentle to moderate terrain. Some days may be a little more challenging than others, but you can walk at your own pace while your luggage is transported ahead for you.

The tours have been planned meticulously and we want them to be everything you’ve hoped for… and more. All our tours run from early April to mid-October and you can start a tour on any day of the week. In addition, the accommodation we book is chosen to suit all tastes – from delightful chambres d’hôtes (Bed & Breakfast), to superb deluxe hotels. You decide and we will try to find ideal accommodation to suit you.

The length of your walking Dordogne / Lot tour is variable and you may start a tour whenever you wish – the duration is neither fixed in advance, nor dependent on a whole group starting together. Whichever tour you choose, you are guaranteed both freedom and flexibility.

Walking Tour 2: CÉLÉ & LOT VALLEYS (Tour duration varies)

Let yourself be captivated by the charm and beauty of the wonderful Célé and Lot Valleys. Less well known than the Dordogne Valley, the Célé and Lot will immediately cast their spell over you!

Our walk begins in Figeac and ends in Cahors, or you may prefer a longer tour which continues through the Cahors vineyards and finishes in Puy-l’Évêque.

Day 1: The tour commences in the historic town of Figeac. Straddling the Célé River, Figeac is a beautiful town with an unspoilt medieval centre. Take time to explore before setting out on your walk through the Quercy countryside.

Day 2 & 3:Heading south-west and passing through glorious, seemingly deserted countryside, follow the rugged Célé Valley. More intimate than the Dordogne and the Lot, the route along the Célé is thought to be one of the most scenic river valleys in France.

Day 4: Continue towards the village of Cabrerets, situated on the confluence of the rivers Célé and Lot. Visit the “Grotte du Pech Merle” cave system and marvel at the world-famous cave paintings.

Day 5 & 6: Following the Lot Valley westwards towards the lovely town of Cahors, stop at the delightful village of St-Cirq-Lapopie, which seems to defy gravity as it hangs above the river valley far below.

Day 7 & 8:Having explored Cahors, continue west along the river. The steep rocky cliffs of the valley now change to a landscape dominated by Cahors’ famous vineyards.

Day 9: During the last day of your walk, you’ll pass through several lovely riverside towns and villages. Enjoy the many spectacular views before arriving at your final destination, Puy-l’Évêque, nestled amidst the vines!
